Igihozo Mireille Addresses Fake Wedding Rumors with Nigerian Star Emmanuel

Viral fake wedding news misled many; Igihozo Mireille debunks the rumors, confirms no wedding, and urges an end to false claims.

Earlier this week, a fake wedding invitation spread rapidly across social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), mentioning that Igihozo Mireille and Emmanuel were getting married on December 15, 2025. This unexpected post left her followers and family questioning the truth behind the claims.

Speaking to InyaRwanda in an interview, Igihozo Mireille shared how a colleague presented her with the viral invitation on Monday, September 8, 2025, asking why she hadn’t invited them to her supposed wedding.

She recounted: "It all started when, on Monday this week, a colleague sent me that 'Invitation' which they had found on Twitter. They asked, 'Are you planning a wedding and didn’t inform us?' I replied, 'No, none of this is true!’"

Igihozo clarified that the image used for the fraudulent invitation was taken back in 2023 during a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial with Emmanuel after they had met at a cinema festival held in Kigali.

She elaborated: "The photo they used dates back to 2023. It was taken when we were at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. I posed for photos with some of the visiting young cinema enthusiasts, and that's the image now being circulated. I have no idea who created this fake invitation."

Her mother and other family members confronted her after the fake invitation circulated, questioning why they hadn’t been informed of any wedding plans.

She explained further: "My mom and relatives started asking, 'How could your child be preparing for a wedding and not inform us?' But it’s all baseless rumors. I wanted to put an end to these false claims. There’s no wedding happening, no 'Save the Date,' and aside from us both working in cinema, there’s no personal connection between Emmanuel and me—it’s pure 'Fake News.'"

Igihozo firmly denied any upcoming wedding plans and appealed to those spreading misleading information to stop, emphasizing its negative impact on her family and friends.
