Thanks Emmy, the Y+ Beauty Pageant is aimed at eradicating stigma and discrimination in the society. The general Target is the society but also targeting the young people living with HIV(YPLHIV); to build their leadership and Advocacy skills so that they can become Ambassadors of change. Living with HIV doesn't make you different from others, you can do and achievw other things normal people do. Just like in Uganda, there is still high levels of stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV, putting them at even greater risk of re-infection due to fear of disclosure and rejection. Ending stigma an discrimination is one key to having PLHIV on medication virally suppressed and thus achieving ZERO new HIV infections and ending AIDS related deaths by 2030.

Nadeje , I like your point , this the only strategic to eradicate HIV new infections transmission by eliminating discrimination and rejection for infected HIV , this will have positive outcome like disclosure and reduce transmission and promote early starting of treatment

Yes Cedru, it is very much critical to keep having conversations aorund ending the stigma and discrimination associated to PLWHIV especially adolescents and young people. Young people in the African society should be given spaces to address the challenges they face and stop silencing them in order to make AIDS accountability successful. We still have a long way to go but together with the political will to engage leaders and communities in the fight against stigma and discrimination, I believe we shall achieve "Zero new HIV infections and Zero AIDS related deaths".
